Island Designs first discovered the ancient art of
"Nei
Hua" or inside painting in mid 1999. After visiting the Grand Master,
Wang
Xisan in Hubei, China, the company decided to design Christmas
ornaments
produced with this technique. These ornaments are designed in the U.S.A.
and are
produced in the U.S.A. Each ornament is hand painted on the inside and and
takes up
to two days to complete. Every ornament is a one of a kind keepsake for
generations to come.
The inside of the glass ornament is acid washed to make the paint stick,
then
the painter starts with the front image and paints "backward" to the
background.
This is the opposite of traditional art.
The tiny paintings are created with a small brush with a hook shape
inserted in
the small hole at the top of the ornament.
The miniature paintings are created via a small brush with a hooked end
that is
passed through the small hole in the top of the bottle or ornament.
It is exciting to design and produce this ancient art form for everyone
to
enjoy. We hope this same excitement is felt when a person opens a gift
and
experiences these treasures for the first time.
